How to distinguish PVC, PET, PP, and PE plastic bottles?

All industries require plastic bottle packaging. As consumers, whether it is plastic bottles for food packaging or plastic bottles for daily necessities packaging, their bottle bodies are printed with symbols representing plastic bottle packaging materials such as PVC, PET, PP, and PE. What are the specific meanings of these signs? What are their specific uses? What should consumers pay attention to when they see these signs?

PVC plastic bottle:

The scientific name of PVC is polyvinyl chloride, and the PVC plastic material is in a slightly yellow semi permeable membrane state with a glossy finish. Due to the poor stability of PVC plastic bottles to light and heat, PVC bottles cannot be heated at high temperatures or exposed to sunlight outdoors to ensure the quality of the packaged items and the safety of human use. PVC bottles are suitable for packaging all products except for food packaging. So consumers can identify whether this bottle is made of PVC material through a simple method: fold the bottle and if there is whitening at the fold, it is a PVC bottle.

PET plastic bottle:

The PET chemical name is polyethylene terephthalate plastic, and the PET plastic raw material is in a highly crystalline state of milky white or light yellow. Compared to PVC material, PET has excellent optical properties and weather resistance, good non-toxic stability, but is not resistant to hot water immersion or alkali. PET bottle packaging is suitable for packaging products in the food, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and other industries. Distinguishing PET bottles is very simple. Use a lighter to light the bottle body. If it emits a comfortable smell, it is a PET bottle. If it emits a pungent smell, it is not a pure PET bottle.

PP plastic bottle:

The name of PP is polypropylene, and PP plastic raw materials are in a semi crystalline state. PP material is a commonly used lightweight plastic with excellent electrical properties. It is used as a high-frequency insulation material resistant to moisture and heat, and is suitable for packaging in the automotive industry and daily necessities. In terms of food packaging, PP bottles cannot be used for barrier packaging of carbonated beverages. So consumers should pay attention!

PE plastic bottle:

PE, also known as polyethylene, is the world's largest synthetic resin and the most consumed plastic packaging material. PE material has advantages such as low water absorption, insolubility in water, resistance to moisture, and insulation properties. Therefore, it can be used not only in food and drug packaging but also in the construction industry.
